为配合国际翻译日,请大家踊跃参与《悲君统治》的新书发布及讨论会。《悲君统治》是陈妙华及温昌一起合作, 翻译由本地马来作家伊沙卡马里著作的长篇马来小说Duka Tuan Bertakhta。陈女士将分享她的翻译心得及经验。伊沙卡马里,作家林高,陈女士及温昌也会参与关于新书的一场讨论会。
《悲君统治》是以小说方式写新加坡历史故事。内容叙说新加坡十八世纪,当史丹福莱佛士登陆新加坡,并从苏丹胡先和天猛公阿都拉曼那里取得新加坡统治权的时候,著名伊斯兰教圣人哈比诺也从槟城来到新加坡。他们这两个重要人物之间于是发生了许多紧张而令人瞩目的关系。而参与这段历史的书中人物也包括塑造当年新加坡马来人社会、经济和政治发展的苏丹胡先、天猛公、哇张铎、蒙西阿都拉、法夸尔和哥罗福等。

On the occasion of International Translation Day, join us for the book launch and discussion of the book《悲君统治》(Pei Jun Tong Zhi). The book is a Chinese translation of the Malay novel Duka Tuan Bertakhta by veteran translators Chan Maw Woh and Wing Chong.
The celebrated writer and translator Madam Chan, who specialises in Malay culture and language, will share about her experiences of translation. It will be followed by a panel discussion on the process of translating the book, featuring the two translators, as well as Chinese writer Lin Gao and Isa Kamari, author of the Malay novel.
《悲君统治》(Pei Jun Tong Zhi) tells the history of Singapore from early to late 1800s. When Stamford Raffles landed and took over the control of Singapore, the famous Muslim saint Habib Nuh also came to Singapore from Penang. The story follows the tense and colourful relationship between the two significant figures in Singapore’s hsitory. The book also traced the social, economic and political developments of the Malays through historical characters including Sultan Hussein, Temenggung Abdul Rahman, Wak Cantuk, Munshi Abdullah, William Farquhar and John Crawfurd.
