Programmes intern (AFCC)
The Programmes intern for AFCC will be working in a dynamic, innovative and nurturing environment. As Singapore Book Council (SBC) is a nonprofit charity, the intern will have the opportunity to work on various aspects of running an arts organisation, including programme design and execution, and events management, among others.
The intern will be an integral team member of SBC's flagship festival, the Asian Festival of Children’s Content, which takes place during the end of May 2021.
Some of the intern’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to
- Planning, coordinating and managing programmes and events;
- Liaising with writers, translators, publishers, and artists;
- Liaising with partners, supporters and other arts industry stakeholders; and,
- Coordinating logistics and operations.
The intern is expected to be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, as part of a team, be highly motivated, open to working in a flexible environment and keen to contribute.
We are looking for interns who have good communication, office and design skills. It is preferable but not required that the intern has a passion for writing, reading, and books, has a penchant for SingLit and is bilingual (English and one of the official mother tongue languages).
The intern will report to the Programmes Manager.
You should be able to commit to this full-time role for three to six months.
The preferred window is:
1. January to June 2021 inclusive

Marketing intern
The intern will be working in a dynamic, innovative and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing various strategies and marketing campaigns, aligned with the objective of raising brand awareness for SBC and raising the profile of its programmes.
In particular, these programmes encompass our workshops and community outreach events, and our signature events, including Open: Singapore Young Writers Lab (formerly "All In! Young Writers Festival"), Singapore Literature Prize, Asian Festival of Children’s Content, SBC Campus, and BuySingLit.
Responsibilities:
1. Design Production
Working on a range of marketing material for SBC's programmes and marketing campaigns. That range from, but is not limited to: creating, designing and laying out appealing designs for SBC's newsletter, electronic direct mailers (EDM), social media, web banners, physical posters, email signatures, PowerPoint presentations, physical brochures and outdoor banners.
2. Digital Marketing/Content Management
Assisting with the administration of SBC's website, ensuring timely updates of website advertisements and updating third party event site listings with SBC programmes.
3. Social Media Management
Researching and scheduling social media content on SBC's social media to reinforce SBC's brand identity and extend SBC's online reach.
4. Administration and Logistics
To provide assistance, as and when needed, to the programmes team for logistics during events and festivals.
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator
- Strong command of English; knowledge of a spoken and written second language (Chinese, Malay or Tamil) is advantageous
- Responsiveness to work within a short timeline
- Proactive and able to display initiative
- Understanding and passion for Singapore literature is advantageous
